The clown teaches through stories, just as Jesus Christ taught through parables. The clown challenges us and makes us ask questions of ourselves just as Jesus did. The clown turns our expectations and perceptions upside down and inside out, just as Jesus did.
Every church is different and every opportunity for a Christian clown to minister is different. Jesus met people wherever they were on their faith journey and helped them a little further along the way. So too the Christian clown meets people wherever they are on thier Christian journey and walks a little way with them. That might mean she meets a passer by at the church gate and her red nose and bright clothes invite the question "What's going on in there?" Surprisingly often such passers by accept Tilly's invitation to "Come and see". At other times it might simply mean eliciting a smile from someone who hasn't found a reson to smile for a while. Sometimes it means delivering the Gospel message to the children in a way they understand. Sometimes it means helping the grown ups to respond to Christ's invitation to become as little children, to see things from another perspective.
Does Tilly do workshops?
Absolutely!
Like performances these are tailor made for each event. They can be in Christian clowning, general circus skills, drama, face painting or puppets (amongst other things) Don't forget to mention its for a Christian event when you call because Tilly also works at secular events.
